B2B Advertising: Why Job Sites Depend On On Philadelphia Radio

Sep 2, 2021 12:31:58 PM / by Larry Julius

If you were one of the 3.2 million adults who tuned in to Philadelphia radio last week, then chances are excellent that you heard advertising for ZipRecruiter.  That's because the company purchased 1,540 advertisements to air on local stations during the month of August, according to Media Monitors.

ZipRecruiter is an online recruitment site that helps companies of every size advertise open jobs. Overall, more than 2.8 million companies have posted an opening on ZipRecruiter.com

It is no wonder that ZipRecruiter and its competitors like Indeed have been making significant advertising investments on Philadelphia radio. Finding qualified workers is one of the toughest challenges facing local business owners. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of job openings in the U.S. has reached a record high 10.1-million jobs with just not enough candidates to fill them.

If you've heard these commercials on Philadelphia radio, then you know that ZipRecruiter is not advertising to attract job seekers to its website.  Rather, the company's goal is to convince local business owners to buy help wanted ads from them.

So, why has ZipRecruiter chosen Philadelphia radio as a business-to-business (B2B) advertising resource?  The first reason is revealed in the first line of their commercial.

"According to research," says the announcer, "82% of people remember radio ads."

B2B Advertising In Philadelphia: Reaching The Decision Makers

Aug 27, 2020 7:21:22 AM / by Larry Julius

New data from the US Census Bureau has optimistic news for Philadelphia area companies that sell business-to-business.

There are approximately 108,000 businesses in the Delaware Valley, according to the Census Bureau. Indeed, many of these businesses have suffered since the onset of the Coronavirus, especially in April.

Census information is now showing positive indicators that the fortunes of area companies are improving. This includes those with 500 or fewer employees. These small businesses account for 94% of all Philadelphia area firms.

During the week of April 26, 52% of Philadelphia area small businesses reported temporary closures.  By July 1, the number dropped to 21%

Also, during that same week, 73% of Philadelphia area small business owners were reporting decreases in revenue versus the prior week.  By August 22, that number fell by more than half.

In both June and July of this year, national data shows all retail and food services spending significantly outperformed the prior year by between two and three percent.

As the business climate improves in the Delaware Valley, the fortunes of B2B companies will accelerate as well. These include those businesses that sell office supplies, restaurant supplies, cleaning services, legal services, accounting services, transportation services, banking services, technology, and commercial real estate.

B2B Advertising: Recycler Finds Customers Using Philadelphia Radio

Nov 17, 2019 9:01:00 AM / by Larry Julius

"Had I realized that advertising on Philadelphia radio was so effective, I would have started sooner. It would have helped to build our business faster," says Frank Lobascio. He is the Managing Partner of Armor Metals and Recycling in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey.

The company recycles scrap metals, including copper, aluminum, brass, and steel. The company also recycles electronic equipment, wire, and computers.

Mr. Lobascio and his brother Joe founded the company in 2011 following the sale of the moving and storage company they operated for 32 years. Friends and relatives familiar with recycling thought it would be a good business for the brothers to try next.

"In the beginning, we could not afford anything like radio advertising. So, our only form of marketing was me. I literally went door-to-door, handing out my cards to businesses asking if I could buy their scrap metal and old computers."
